Put Yourself In Your Dog's Paws

Imagine, if you will, being your dog for one day. Left home alone, when wanting to play. 

The wait is long, with nothing to do. Wondering when I will hear from you... 

Alone and bored, I drift off to sleep. If I were your child, you'd hear me weep. 

I'm just a dog, and easy to forget. But please remember you called my your "pet."

I'm not a toy you can put away for the day. I'm a soul, like you, and I love to run and play. 

I need to feel I'm here for a reason, not just for some passing season. 

I'm part of your family for the time we have together. And when I'm gone, these are the days you will remember. 

So, if for one day, you could put yourself in my paws, you'd know what it's like behind closed doors. 

You'd see that I too, am from God above, and I too require your Love.
